My car was towed to Fountain after blowing a tire in the snow. Tore the side wall on concrete. Even the tow truck had trouble getting there. But thankfully the lads had come to work and had me back on the road in no time with a new tire and alignment.

I was in the market for LD Truck tires for my Dodge 1500. When I entered the sales office I was immediately acknowledged that someone would be with me shortly. After a brief wait I was great by a very knowledgeable and fun sales associate. I explained my needs in detail, he asked me if I had a budget, after giving him a range I could handle he provided me 4 options within my range. After 24 hours I returned and had a set of Goodyear Dura Traks installed, I also had an oil change, an alignment, and a BG service completed all within my budget. Great service, excellent follow up, prompt appointment. Overall experiance was outstanding. I will be back. Thanks.

I had a flat tire that was repaired improperly by BCAA roadside assistance while in Vancouver. However, the tire had a slow leak and needed to be repaired properly. When I got back to Nanaimo Fountain took me in right away. Very efficient check in and had me back on the road within 30 minutes for a reasonable price. Excellent customer service! I would highly recommend this place to anyone needing tire repair.

I shopped around for tires at six different tire shops in the Parksville and Nanaimo area. Fountain Tire came in at one of the lowest prices and gave me good recommendations for tire options. Their staff were super friendly and pleasant. It took them less than an hour to change my tires so they are obviously efficient as well. This issue second time I’ve gone with Fountain Tire after extensive research and had an excellent experience.

I was very impressed with the professionalism and ethics of this business. Second time I've dealt with them and each time the service was excellent and pricing fair. The most recent was remarkable in that I offered them carte blanche to assess and repair our RV for alignment and brake service. Having almost 100K kmand having worn through a set of steering tires acquired from a competitor recently due presumably poor alignment. The alignment was checked and a full report given and discount offered because no adjust was required. The brake inspection yielded a pass, with recommendation to return in 30K km, to recheck. Again only a nominal charge for the inspection time even though the parts have been pre-ordered in case a pad and rotor replacement was needed. All was done in and efficient manner and full accounting given of the condition of the vehicle and time spent in the assessment. RV drives well and I have piece of mind in driving it. Would definitely recommend them for any of the services they provide. Jim Betker

I had our old Mazda MPV van in to install winter tires and do an alignment. I appreciate their courteous manner in explaining what is needed to be done now and what can wait for a future time. They let you know when the vehicle is ready to be picked up and it is completed to estimate. The staff has been there for a long time and seem to respect and work in a pleasant culture. so, i first called fountain tire in august to get a quote on winter tires..the fellow assured me that my quote was saved and would be honored at any time as long as they had the tires in stock..i work in camp so am gone a month at a time,, doesnt leave much time for these chores.. skip to october 30,, i call to book an appointment for the winter tires..the fellow on the phone was so helpful and respectfull...made an appointment for 2 days later... appointment day arrives... its snow day.. im sure the busiest place in nanaimo was this store..but,, they took my car as soon as i arrived..told me an hour an a half.. and sure enough,, less than an hour an a half and we were on our way.. all of the guys were so friendly and respectful and patient with everyone on such a busy day. i apreciated it alot.. i will definitley be going to fountain tire again,,, and again... thanks marni

First of all, I’m sorry, I’ve never made an actual complaint to a business before, but I feel my experience warrants it. As a former service advisor myself, I would honestly be embarrassed for the experience I had, and I understand the importance of customer service and good survey numbers. I gave you all tens, but I sincerely hope you read this, as I would have liked to give you a zero. A couple weekends ago I came in for two new tires. I was receommended some, they were ordered, and an appointment was made. All good. I show up for the appointment the service advisor says no no you don’t want these tires, you want these other ones. I was a little upset because this process took a good 15 minutes and now I was late for work so I just said order the tires as I left. No call was made to make an appointment or give me an eta on when the tires would come in, but no biggie I’m sure they’ll call when the tires get in. I got a call on Wednesday morning telling me I missed my appointment. Shocked, I apologized and asked if I could bring it in today, and you guys were awesome enough to let me do that. So I go there, drop the truck off, and head off for work. Half hour later (James?) calls me and asks if I want the new tires on the back or the front. We never talked about that so fair enough question. I said new tires on the back, and the best two remaining tires on the front. Two hours later I get call saying it’s done, so I come by to grab it. First thing I notice is my front passenger side tire is as bald as it gets, and was essentially the one reason I needed to get two new tires. So I ask what’s up with this? Where’s my other good tire? (James?) explains you guys were very busy and he’s sorry, and that it’s his bad. So he offers to put the good tire I have on the front passenger side but it can’t be done until Monday. I guess that means I’ll see you Monday. Overall just a boneheaded move by one your mechanics, and with that I’ll have come by your place 4 times for 2 tires. The kicker is Ill be driving to Port Alberni, over the “hump”, with a bald ass tire and if I just happen to pulled over I’ll be fined as there is no way my tire had more than 4/32’s of tread left.

I was just a little 'miffed' at having to pay for the switching of my snow tires/on rims, for my all-season Tripple Treads. You folks probably made the decision to charge for what used to be a free service, some time ago but I didn't put my snow tires on last year so I probably missed out on the change of policy last year. Purchased & had a new set of Toyo All Weather tires installed. Service was friendly,prompt & satisfactory. My only complaint was the fact I was awarded a measly 6 Air Miles for an invoice exceeding $1,000! Have been a long time Fountain Tire customer in Alberta before coming here & do not recall exclusions of Air Miles just because I bought a non Goodyear product. When I shop at any other retailer you get Air Miles based on the total of the purchase. I suggest a Corporate review of this Rule is warranted.

If you are like I am, a person with only a rudimentary knowledge about car operations, you would probably be quite nervous about choosing an automotive repair shop to repair and maintain your vehicle. Your (and mine as well) apprehension is not without reasons: there are just too many scandalous stories about car repairs from too many people that you know. However, being nervous is one thing, you still have to find a trustworthy auto repair shop to look after your vehicle. I have found one: Fountain Tire Nanaimo. I would recommend that you take your car to them and try them out. My wife and I have been Nanaimo Fountain Tire’s faithful customer for almost 10 years (ever since we moved to Nanaimo), and we have been receiving nothing but very dependable services from them. Their service managers are courteous and they always take the time to listen, interpret and explain the issues in plain language (so that laymen like us can understand the problem and what needs to be done). They would suggest solutions and alternatives if available, and their pros and cons before committing us to do the necessary repair and maintenance works. They would tell you what preventative maintenance should be done, but they never push for premature extra services that some repair shops would insist are necessary. The service personnel all seem to have the customers’ best interest in mind. Two incidents attest our confidence in Fountain Tire Nanaimo. We bought our Subaru Forester 2007 from a used car dealership five years ago, which came with a one-year warranty on the power train. Before the warranty expired, a problem emerged. Len, one of the service managers took the initiative to ask about the warranty, and he helped us negotiate with the insurance company to pay for the bulk of the cost of fixing a whole host of related problems. Needless to say, we were more than thankful for his due diligence, which saved us a considerable amount of money. More recently, our Subaru engine’s head gasket was diagnosed leaking and we accepted Fountain Tire’s recommendation to replace it, as well as to fix an axle differential seal problem in conjunction. The repair would cost over $3,000, but we agreed to the repair because our Forester had been a fine vehicle with only 150,000 km on it and we planned to keep it for another 5-10 years. . A couple of days after we dropped off the car at Fountain Tire, we got a call from it owner Philip, who told me that apparently the repair person made an error (possibly by following the wrong procedure) that resulted in the coolant entering and damaging the engine. Philip indicated that they could do a normal fix, but as this could lead to other problems later, he felt it was the wrong approach. Instead, he committed the company to purchase a refurnished engine from the local Subaru dealership and have the latter to install it with full warranty provided by the dealership. Further, as shipment of the refurnished engine would take several weeks, Fountain Tire would provide us with a rental car until the refurbished engine was shipped and installed to satisfaction. Dumpfounded at his proposal, which was totally beyond our expectation, we gladly took up his offer. As it turned out, it took about 6 weeks for the refurbished engine to arrive. After the engine arrived, the Subaru dealership went back on its promise to install the engine based on their original quote and its new quote was rejected by Fountain Tire’s insurance company. At that juncture, Fountain Tire stepped back in, installed the new engine and picked up the warranty instead. Finally, we got our Forester back after test-driving it to our satisfaction. Before leaving the shop, the service manager told us that they had carried additional maintenance (e.g. removed the rust on the brakes after sitting idle for a long time) to ensure that the car was in good working condition. Needless to say, we were very pleased with the care that they have shown to us. During the six weeks waiting period, we had a chance to talk to owner Philip several times. From the conversations, we developed a much deeper appreciation for his operating philosophy. Philip is very direct and candid about how he runs his business. He told us that his goal is to build a reputable business that lasts. He requires his staff to observe certain basic rules to establish and protect the company's reputation, including treating customers fairly and equitably; to be transparent and professional in the way they handle customer requests, and to be ready to help and recommend alternative solutions when available etc. Business leadership starts from the top. When you have an owner who thinks long term and aligns his company’s interests with those of the customers by treating them fairly and offering them reliable and valuable services, it is bound to be successful. Fountain Tire Nanaimo is an automotive service company that we trust and we would recommend it highly to other customers. Peter & Irene HO

we have purchased several sets of tires and usually have been treated well and have been happy to return. i recently went to have my tires checked for wear as there were differed levels of wear. i was told i should replace 2 tires and the salesman was trying to help as i wasn't ready to replace all 4 tires. he came up with a solution to replace with one used second hand tire and use my spare to balance out and have 4 good tire with lots of tread. i returned to have my lug nuts torqued and was told that i shouldn't mixed the tires because they had different a ratings. i wasn't aware of this. but didn't talk to the salesperson as i was leaving and in a hurry to leave for a holiday. while on a holiday i went to another dealer and was told again i should not mix tires . now i have spent money on tires that are not right . while i was driving the tires made my truck veer of when driving over seamed pavement, not comfortable. i don't want to go back and give any more business, once bitten? i will try costco . i Know the salesman was trying to help but safety should come first.

The cost was a little more than competitors, but FountainTire Nanaimo got it just the way I wanted it. I've been a FountainTire customer for over 20 years for rolling stock for everything from small cars through 4×4's up to large tractor trailer units. Good job over the years but you might want to keep an eye on your margins on the rubber as it is very competitive market with a lot of new non traditional tire sellers.

My wife had a flat tire as she left home. A sheet metal screw had embedded itself into the tire and had wormed itself into the sidewall leaving it unrepairable. She called for advice, got towed into Fountain Tire through BCAA and a loaner tire was placed onto the van until a new tire came in. Two days later a new tire came in and it was replaced onto the van. What was above and beyond was the quick service and the advice given to my wife and I. Philip provided some excellent info on tire choice, road noise, wear and comfort for my 2014 Mustang, I had OEM Pireilli P zeros on vehicle with 30,000 km, lots of tread left, but road noisy . We discussed the issues of this problem. Phil recommended Goodyear Eagle Sport, I went with his excellent tire quote installed. An excellent choice, road,tire noise disappeared, comfort driving too !! These new tires feel good on the highway. Thanks Phil.

I have an older truck. I am not too familiar with mechanical repairs. What I have learned from this last service is that on an older vehicle, if it isn't broken, don't touch it. Recommended brake flushing will almost for sure break off the bleeders on the brake. I ended up buying two callipers that I did not need to buy. I was told that three of the four wheels had already been bled meaning that I would have to go for the more expensive repair. I went to see for myself and found that the broken bleeder was the first wheel worked on. I have left the brakes the way they were and will have to deal with the broken bleeder when I service them in the future. This has gone a long way towards shaking my trust in the work you are doing on my vehicle.

Complimentary rotating of mounted summer/winter tires should be honoured as originally promoted/sold. This feature surely was designed to attract loyalty and in our case did just that, with subsequent purchase of replacement summer tires. Company decision disappointing.

I bring in my 3 vehicles for many years now as well as many friends and family l and continue to send there. No call to let me know I miss or was late for my appointment and when I did call I could book for the following week... I just moved to the area this summer. I took my GMC truck in for a difficult transmission issue and they diagnosed it, got the part in quickly and fixed it right away. I also indicated it needed an oil change but after looking at it they said the oil was OK. Not often a repair place recommends against spending money. I'll be back.

My car was in for an oil change and to rotate the 3-season tires over to winter tires. As always, friendly staff processed me quickly for the drop off. An hour and a half later I returned and the car was not ready yet because the oil filter had just arrived. was advised it was must a matter of popping in the filter. I sat in the waiting room for 45 minutes. I was disappointed that my name was not called when the car and my bill were ready. After the aforementioned 45 minutes, I went to the counter and saw that my car was parked in front of the office window. My bill was retrieved from a drawer and I was on my way 5 minutes later.
