Fountain Tire Celebrates 70 Years

Milestone anniversary focuses on people, partnerships and legacy of service

EDMONTON, AB, September 29, 2026 | Fountain Tire is celebrating its 70th anniversary in 2026, marking seven decades of growth, partnership and service. From a single garage in Wainwright, Alberta, the company has grown into one of Canada’s largest tire and automotive service providers, with 170 stores, wholesale operations and a specialized Mine Service division.

“Seventy years is an incredible milestone,” says Jason Herle, CEO of Fountain Tire. “It reflects resilience, trusted partnerships and, above all, the people who care deeply about the work they do and the communities they serve.”

Founded in 1956 by Bill Fountain, Fountain Tire was shaped by his commitment to partnership, innovation and exceptional customer service — values that continue to guide the company today. As Fountain Tire expanded across Canada, it also diversified into commercial and agricultural offerings, wholesale distribution and mine services while staying true to its entrepreneurial roots. The company’s pioneering 50/50 ownership model, which gives store managers the opportunity to become business owners, remains central to its culture, empowering local leaders to create lasting relationships with their customers and communities.

“Longevity like this doesn’t happen by accident,” Herle says.

“It’s built on trust, integrity and thousands of thoughtful choices made over many years by teams across our organization. It’s also thanks to our business partners and customers who have been ‘on this road together’ with us along the way.”

As the automotive industry continues to evolve, Fountain Tire remains focused on giving customers the expertise, products and service they need to keep moving with confidence. “Our focus has always been on helping people get there — safely, sustainably and successfully,” Herle says. “As markets shift, technology advances and customer expectations evolve, that philosophy continues to drive us forward.”

Throughout 2026, Fountain Tire will celebrate its 70th anniversary by honouring the associates, partners and customers who have shaped its success. Activities include employee recognition and engagement initiatives as well as customer appreciation events hosted by locally owned and operated stores.
