1956

* First Fountain Tire opened in Wainwright, Alberta

1964

* Edmonton distribution centre opened

1967

* Astro Tire Canada Ltd. formed - wholesale division partnered with Fountain Tire. Astro Tire was a private label tire brand, which Fountain Tire offered exclusively at its stores.

1976

* Number of Fountain Tire stores had grown to 19, one retread plant and a Modern Tire Supply (company that sold and serviced tire equipment) added
* Bill Fountain tragically killed in car accident.
* Focus up to this point had been on growing the wholesale business, and not as much on growing retail businesses

1980

* New head office at 8801 - 24 Street in Edmonton, Alberta

1984

* Fountain Tire changed its expansion strategy and moved away from growing the wholesale business to investing in retail outlets. The next few years were spent developing the Fountain Tire identity.

1986

* Fountain Tire sold its interest in Astro Tire, the private label brand carried by Fountain Tire stores. The Astro tire line was phased out of Fountain Tire operations.

1987

* July 31st at 3:30 pm, the worst tornado in Alberta history struck Edmonton and Fountain Tire. Thankfully, there were no injuries, but there was $1.5 million of damage to the office, warehouse, and vehicles.
* September 24 - Fountain Tire sold 49% interest to Goodyear Canada. As a result of this sale, the Goodyear brand became exclusive to Fountain Tire and the "Fountain Tire Program." Goodyear was the #1 tire company in the world, and this was a first that a company of its magnitude would buy a non-controlling interest in a company.

1990s

* All Goodyear corporate-owned retail outlets in major centres in Alberta and British Columbia were bought by Fountain Tire. Goodyear was to focus on manufacturing and Fountain Tire was to focus on retailing.

1992

* Fountain Tire acquired Contract Tire in British Columbia, which strengthened its commitment to expanding the business outside of Alberta. There are now 70 Fountain Tire operations in Alberta and British Columbia.

1996

* Fountain Tire Industrial launched, this new wholesale division of industrial tire warehouses is known today as Tire Country

2000

* Goodyear sells remaining corporate-owned stores in Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and Thunder Bay to Fountain Tire

2006
• Fountain Tire celebrates its 50th year in business.

Today

* Head Office in Edmonton, Alberta has over 100 employees with regional offices in Kamloops, British Columbia and Winnipeg, Manitoba
* Over 140 Fountain Tire stores spanning across Western Canada
